"Remember this maxim: when a liberal says something outrageous, it's a courageous embrace of First Amendment freedoms, intended to catalyze discussion; when a conservative does the same, it is hate speech. This is the lesson liberals at the University of Connecticut (UConn) were attempting to teach students until last Wednesday, when they went too far by repeatedly interrupting Ann Coulter's remarks. "
....at a university-sponsored speech by Cindy Sheehan. Several conservative students protested outside the speech and then quietly joined the audience. Of those protesters, Benjamin Woodard noted that "as much as they were against her, they knew how to respect her."
I don't understand why immaturity from the left would get any attention. Isn't that expected? Just look into the root of all liberal ideas and you find the same type of reasoning - basically that of an immature adolescent. I was reminded of this in a Malcolm in the Middle re-run where Malcolm is trying to act stupid to get a girl so he says, "we should make all the $1 bills worth $100, then there wouldn't be poor people any more" (just like minimum wage laws, but liberals do not see the silliness as easily as the intelligent teen). Most liberal ideas are flawed due to being egoistical, without consequence, and without accounting for human nature.
The big question is how do you deal with it? How do you convince someone who does not listen to facts or reason, but will only believe what the cool kids are saying? I guess the best place to start would be to read up on how parents deal with teen aged know-it-alls, although it is much tougher with liberals because you can't take the TV or cell phone away from them.
