My eye, inside/out

Aug 17, 2013 06:58

So, an update.

The inside of my eye is healing fine. There is still a bubble in it, but it's getting smaller every day and soon it will be gone. And the surgeon says everything is hunkydory inside there.

But the outside of my eye is not healing.
It was healing; it was getting better and better. Then it got slightly worse and stopped. For a week it got neither better nor worse. Which is concerning; it should be almost all healed up by now. But it's not.

The best guess is that the CPAP is leaking air into that eye as I sleep; I sleep usually on my right side, which presses the CPAP mask slightly toward the left, which means if it's going to leak, that is where it's going to leak air: into my left eye.

So he gave me drops-basically just artificial tears-to put in the eye every hour, and some gauze patches to tape over my eye while I sleep to keep the air out. He said to try to find a way to sleep on my other side and use the patch/tape if I couldn't. Instead I am using the patch/tape while/until I can be sure I have got the sleeping on the other side worked out. It's been 3 days of supermoist and 3 nights of patch and tape. It was markedly better after just one night and two days. Progress is less noticeable now, but I am confident.
