Cargo

So the 85 is now more-or-less fully functional. I took it to the tire place this afternoon and got the one that was bald and bulging replaced. I tried to do that on Thursday, but the guy's brand new (like hours old, I saw the pristine box it came from) Craftsman 4-ton jack picked up the car ahead of mine and then stopped picking things up. He was pretty pissed off. But today he had a new new jack and no one was ahead of me, and I was (as usual) in and out in like 15 minutes with a nearly-new tire for $25.00

Then I pulled into New Express Muffler on Western and said "I have a down pipe, and nothing else. I need a converter and a muffler."

"Oooh. That's going to cost a bit." says the guy.

He looks at the space, and says "I'll have to cut it *here*, put on a new flex and a bend *here*...This is going to be expensive. $250.00"

Since I was expecting something roughly twice that, given the prices I had found online for parts, I bit my tongue and said "Oh. Well, ok. Let me make sure I have that much on me.... How long will it take?"

An hour later I was driving quietly away.

The suspension seems to be not so much with suspending...I may need new springs soon. But other than that, the car is a happy car again! I even moved the radio back.

Now I can start worrying about the 87.

(meanwhile the truck was dead this week; it's been in the shop since Tuesday night, and this evening I got the call that it was done and ready to be picked up. So tomorrow I have to figure out how to do that....)

87, 85, car, happy thoughts
