Road Rage
So yesterday evening I was driving around doing some errands. I pulled into a parking lot...and was followed by a very angry man in an SUV. This guy pulled up next to me, rolled down his window and started yelling about how he was going to beat the shit out of me! Cursing and swearing and threatening me with all sorts of physical harm.
Then he started getting out of his truck to do these things.
This was good news for me. Because being in a running car when your attacker is on foot makes it really easy to get away. So I drove off, leaving him standing next to his car, still swearing.
But I was blocked by traffic in the lot, so he was able to get back in his truck and follow me.
I called 911.
So when he got to where I was, he saw me on the phone saying "I'm in a parking lot at X and Y and I am being assaulted!!" and drove off, calling me a "pussy" and a "coward." I craned my neck and read off his plate to the 911 operator.
911 was not helpful. If he had not driven off, I would have been not just assaulted but physically attacked.
Basically I was just inside Chicago, and told the operator that, but the operator would not believe me and kept searching her maps to figure out which suburb to send my call to. Finally I told her the name of the only town it might have been (Harwood Heights), and she sent me there. But HH, of course, said "that's Chicago." and sent me back to Chicago. The second Chicago operator couldn't hear me clearly because of all the transfers, it had been more than 5 minutes since the start of the call, my assailant was gone...I gave up.
I have no real idea what he was pissed off about.
