Another weekend of awesomeness!

Saturday morning, I lounged around in bed as long as possible, and then got going. First, I went and had lunch; then I headed for the geohash point. Got there about an hour early, so I wandered away again and went to a hardware store to kill time. Then I went back and with my GPS set up my folding chair on the exact spot.
At 4pm, someone else showed up: a geeky guy named Hayden in an IBM/Linux t-shirt. We chatted about this and that, Geohashing...he brought out some juggling stuff and we tossed balls around for a while...
Then I mentioned that from there I was going to Milwaukee to a roller derby bout...and then I was explaining derby and talking with him about derby. He ended up getting directions from me to the game.

Then it was time for me to head out to said game, which I did. Stopped at Mars for curds and jaegersausage. Got to the bout a couple of minutes after doors. Hayden was already there, presumably because he had skipped the Mars stop. Then other people I know started trickling in...some WCR skaters...some Rockford skaters and refs...Madison people, of course. (This was Madison vs Milwaukee).

It was an OK bout, but pretty lopsided. Madison was ahead from the first jam and Milwaukee never caught up: 193 to 55.
After the bout, off to the after party! I stopped at Arby's (because Vnuk's does not have food) and a gas station, so the party was moving well by the time I got there. and Hayden was there as well! I got to talk to various Milwaukee and Madison folks...it was a really great afterparty. Then I drove home. I was out too late, and had to pull into a parking lot to nap for a little while to make it home.

Sunday morning I got up late, got dressed, got moving, and got a little bit of food. Then off to betawriter's house to pick her up to go skating! Which was a lot of fun! And was unavoidable, which was part of the point. I've gotten out of the habit of skating as often as I feel I should. I have fun when I'm doing it, but sometimes need a kick to get moving. But since I was going with someone there was no getting out of it.
After skating we went to the Polish market near the rink, where she bought quince wine (I shudder to think). Then back home for her...I headed back into the city for the next step: Picking up a freecycle item in Logan Square. I now have a leather motorcycle jacket very much like the one that was stolen all those years ago.

Then home again and crash crash crash.

adventure, derby, updates
