Freecycle gave me a Senseo.

It is the most wonderful coffee appliance ever.

I have one of those things. I like it, but my wife hates it (and banishes it from the kitchen counter every chance she gets). I got it for free when they had a online promotion you could fill out, and if you had lots of friends and had lots of parties, you would get one sent to you for free.

The pods are a bit expensive, however. About $0.30/each, and the cheapest I have ever seen them in bulk is about $0.21/each.

Still, they are very good. Plus you can get 3rd party pods and make tea or hot chocolate and other stuff. I know there are some "make your own pods" kits available, but I have not yet tried them.

Yes, the pods are expensive in an absolute sense.
But compare to what I'm doing now:
Either buying a cup of coffee out somewhere ($2 or more) or making a whole pot of coffee so I can drink one cup (about 30 cents and a lot more work and waste).
It works out better for me cost-wise. And the coffee is fantastically good. So.

That's how I got my Senseo (that I never use) as well. Maybe I should try it one of these days, now that I've read this glowing review.

I drink a 12-cup pot of coffee every day, so a one cup maker would be for decaf at night if I wanted.

Yeah, see...for me, I drink 1-3 cups, spread out over the day. This way each cup is perfect and fresh.

I could bring over a pod or two if you want to try it....

Thank you! I have an entire package of them, however - never been opened. But you have convinced me to break that air seal and try it. Tomorrow morning.
