I called FedEx to schedule a pickup of two heavy boxes. These boxes were being shipped back to the manufacturer, using the FedEx number of the people who sold them to us.
FedEx said that they could not schedule a pickup, because there was a problem with my account.
I haven't had an account with FedEx since the mid-90s. Furthermore, when I was forwarded to and spoke with FedEx collections, they said there was nothing wrong. So again I tried to schedule this pickup. This time I was told that I had a daily pickup scheduled for 3pm at Door 3.
"This is a house."
More "Who's On First" ensues. We learn that the holder of the FedEx number does have a pickup every day at 3. But that's in Chandler, AZ. We try again to schedule a pickup for my actual house. Still blocked by my "delinquent" account. Conference a different collections guy, who says that the problem is that the credit card on my account expired in 1998.
Well of course it did! I closed that FedEx account in 1995!
"Oh. Well then let me delete it, and you should be good to go."
But no.
Now I have an account closed for delinquency associated with my address and can nevermore ever ever get a pickup at this address.
Ever.
