Go read this cartoonGrowing up with someone with a similar tattoo, it's not a lesson I've really ever had to think about. Not something I ever had to consciously be taught...something I have always known. Very powerful stuff (and briefly mentioned in the last X-Men movie, too).

I will say, however, that lots of other people died in the same way; it wasn't just the Jews in the camps.

Yes lots of other people died in the camps. But by far the greatest percentage of people killed were Jews. If my memory of the numbers is correct over 70% of the people killed in the camps were jews, the remaining 30% were made up of political prisoners, gypsies, gays, prisoners of war and folks who collaborated against the Nazi party, although I suppose that could be lumped in with political prisoners.

11 million people were killed.

6 million were Jewish, leaving 5 million "others"
