Top Ten Unrequited (but requited really) - Multifandom
I’ve collected together ten fics where one character believes their love is unrequited, but they turn out to be wrong (or the object of their affection is open to the idea once they find out about it), and they get together in the end.
There are a lot of really great fics that could have gone into this list (particularly in the SPN and SGA fandoms - I could just about have done 10 from each of those!) But I set out to do a multifandom list, and I also wanted to try to create a list with a good balance between angsty fics and fics that were a bit more light-hearted, so I had some hard choices to make! I hope you all enjoy reading the ones I’ve come up with :) I've used a quote from each instead of trying to describe them - because I had a go at it and frankly my descriptions did not do the fics justice ;) instead I've done my best to pick out a quote that both gives you an idea of what the story is about, and also gives a good representation of the authors' style and the tone of the piece. Helenish - Your Inevitable Unhappy Ending (SGA) slash John/Rodney plus some het
It wasn't the first time he'd had an idiotic crush on a guy, but it was certainly the most inconvenient. Lucky, then, that Rodney never noticed, not even when John timed dinner for two months so he could eat sitting across from Rodney, not even when he found excuses to touch Rodney, shoulder, elbow, chest, once, not even when he took Katie Brown on four dates and tried to fall in love with her because Rodney had liked her. Not even when he dated Miko for five weeks because he liked to hear her talk about Rodney.
Audra Rose - So Close to my Heart (SPN-RPS AU) Slash Jared/Jensen
"Your son's adorable. How old is he?"
Jared turned to the woman who was smiling at him from behind the vegetable stand. "Oh, he's not --." And then it hit him. She didn't mean his son, she meant their son, his and Jensen's. The sudden hollow of longing that opened in his chest was about a mile deep.
Amireal - Close Encounters (SGA) slash John/Rodney
John watches Rodney's eyes slit open, pupils wide and dark and warm looking; he can feel the line of tension under where his hand lies on Rodney's arm, an entire body holding itself back, curling in on itself, holding up in possibly the most awkward position possible. "Relax," John says quietly, "really, flattering."
"There's flattering," Rodney mutters, "and then there's humping your best friend's leg when he's trying to help you not die."

John stared back at him, unguarded, and he knew everything was on his face and he couldn’t get it off quick enough, and Rodney was getting big-eyed, and in a second it would be too late to blow it all off, to make some excuse, and then it was too late, and Rodney stammered, “I, uh - I have to go now - “ and sidled back out of the room awkwardly, and fuck. Just - fuck.
Biblio - Folie a Deux (SG-1) Slash Jack/Daniel
Jack watched Daniel with the same intensity his besotted archaeologist was watching the crystal, admiring the unconscious grace with which he moved when his mind was focused on anything but himself. He could barely remember a time when he could look at Daniel without wanting, when distance hadn't been an absolute, a necessity just so he could go on.
Sheafrotherdon - Crush (SGA) slash John/Rodney
John scrubs a hand over his face and sighs heavily. "Goddamn you, McKay," he says with a sigh. "I like you." He's mumbling now, looking at the floor and scuffing the balcony with the toe of his boot.
Rodney blinks. "Huh?"
"I like you, okay?" John says. He scratches the back of his neck, looks up for a nanosecond, and then away again.
Thamaris The Rules of Blue (SV) slash Clark/Lex
With Clark directly in front of him as they soared, he couldn't see Metropolis shrinking below, just feel the rush of summer air, then the cooler brush of clouds. It could've been like a dream, only Lex had been feeling this way for months. Maybe years. Maybe since the time he woke up on the riverbank and Clark was there to save him.
Meadowmines untitled supernatural (SPN) slash Sam/Den
See, he usually jerks off while Sam's in the shower. He doesn't really remember when it became a habit, but he does it just about every time. It's why he tends to let Sam have the shower first unless he's covered in critter guts or something. It's also the closest he's ever going to let himself come to... well, to doing any of the things he'll never admit to thinking about doing to Sam.
Astolat - Loud and Clear (SPN) slash Sam/Dean
Dean had known even then he wasn't actually going to get it, but that was okay; he didn't really want it, not when it would mess everything else up and do God knew what to Dad. It was damn sweet, though, to feel like he could've had it, could've just put his hand on Sam's and coaxed him along. Instead he'd laughed and ruffled Sammy's hair into a mess, happier than he'd ever been, and three weeks later Sam annouced he was leaving, cross-country bus for California, and by the way, lucky you hadn't tried anything, Dean, because you'd have found out real quick just how many illusions you were still living under.
Spikedluv - When Visions Come True (BtVS) slash Spike/Xander
Xander wanted to crawl into a hole and just die. He knew his face had turned a deep shade of red, but he managed to form the words to say, “You’re wrong, Buffy.” He swallowed hard. “I kissed Spike. He told me, very politely, that he wasn’t interested in being more than friends. And you’re hardly in a position to fault him for that.”
