Supernatural - 14 Recs; RPS - 6 Recs
I've got more recs to do the next few days from all the reading I was doing when I probably should've been writing. First up, Supernatural and Jared/Jensen RPS.
Supernatural (14 Recs)
1. Curious and Curiouser by lunarknightz - Supernatural/Pushing Daisies crossover - This was written for me, so I realize that I’m hardly impartial, but it’s wonderful. A few small typos, but a perfect narrator voice based in PD world more than makes up for it. And it amused me. It was, perhaps one of the oddest responses the pie maker had heard upon reviving a deceased person. “I swear Sam, I told you to let me die and be in some freaking peace for once!”
2. Fuck-Up by whisp - Supernatural/Dead Like Me [PG-13] - I originally recced this when it was just a drabble, but now it’s a full-fledged story of awesomeness. I love Dean trying to go back and see Sam, but realizing that he has a new family now. Dean shook his head to clear it as he dodged around another group of people. There was no use going there again. That part of his life was over and done with.
3. Happy Holidays by poisontaster - Sam/Dean [R] - It’s Heartverse fic, the world that broke me and turned me into a wincest girl. And this doesn’t disappoint. It’s schmoopy and wonderful and I love her Sam and Dean. “I’m not getting up today,” Dean announces as Sam comes out of the bathroom scrubbing his hair dry with his fingers.
4. Pressing by setissma - Sam/Dean [R] - This is just all about the kissing between Sam and Dean and it’s so perfectly in character and hot. I love really descriptive, amazing kisses and this is filled with them. The first time is just outside of Boston, on the shoulder of an exit ramp. It's thirty five degrees and pouring rain, and one of their headlights is out; Dean's got two wrenches and a replacement light bulb, and he's been fucking with it for fifteen minutes.
5. Nowhere But Here by halfshellvenus - Sam/Dean [R] - Schmoop as Sam and Dean enjoy a lazy day together. Lots of kissing and sex ensues. God, I love well-written schmoop. "Go?" Sam says. "Don't want to go anywhere. I'm not leaving this bed."
6. Eureka by fools_game - Sam/Dean [NC-17] - Sam tells Dean he loves him and as much as Dean pretends otherwise, he does love it. This is so perfect. There is banter and hot sex and cuddling. Dean gets these epiphanies in the shower sometimes. He says that standing under the hot water helps his brain function better, or maybe the lack of clothes frees up his blood flow or something.
7. Lines of Escape in My Mouth by oxoniensis - Supernatural, Post All Hell Breaks Loose, Girl!Dean/Sam [PG-13] - This is just so beautifully written. Succinct and smart and a pretty realistic version of Dean as a girl. Escape, and he can hardly believe it. Feels giddy with relief, wants to twirl Dee around, but she'd knee him in the nuts if he even tried. Lightheaded with exhaustion too, a week of sleepless nights catching up, a year of madness and desperation and false hope.
8. We’ll Fall Asleep and Back Again by lazy_daze - Post Bedtime Stories, Sam/Dean [R] - Missing scene from the episode as Sam tries to make it clear to Dean that he has no plans to let go. It aches and is perfectly them. They don't do this often, and when they do it's normally hot, frantic handjobs in the dark, but there's so much rushing around inside Sam at the moment and he doesn't know how to express it, needs to get his hands on Dean and show him with tongue and teeth and fingers what he can't with words, what he can't say even to himself. He doesn't know how to express what's burning him up, so much fiery need.
9. When We Go Down by rejeneration - Post Bedtime Stories, Sam/Dean [NC-17} - This is amazing, wonderful first time for Sam & Dean set as a coda to the episode. I love how much Sam tries to show his brother how he feels. I love that Dean is breaking apart. Great stuff. The second he turns the lock, Dean is on him like a storm - black, angry - fists twisted in contention. Sam doesn’t even bother hiding the Colt. He pushes the door shut with the heel of his shoe, leans back on it; intentions open for the world to see.
10. Save You, Save Me by quiet_rebel - Post Red Sky at Morning [PG-13} - I do still read gen and I really liked how Sam turned to someone else in this piece to try to get through to Dean and I loved that it was Jo, considering their own history. Wonderful piece, even if it’s a little hurty. Jo learned about love from Bob Seger and from old shoeboxes full of faded letters and dusty pictures under her mom’s bed. Jo learned what it was like to have a broken heart after watching two men turn their backs and leave her sight to never return.
11. Good Things Come by unamaga - Post Red Sky at Morning, Sam/Dean [PG-13] - A short coda to the episode where Dean tries to get Sam out of his mood. I love the way Dean is in this story and how he feels about his brother staying mad at him. Sam takes to wearing a ridiculous flap-eared hat that he’d bought at good will earlier in the month that’s a hideous plaid of orange and red and pushes his bangs down in front of his eyes; Dean’s never had so much fun just sitting across from someone in a diner before.
12. Pharos by setissma - Post Red Sky at Morning, Sam/Dean [PG-13] - This aches, but I love Sam in this and the prose for this piece is simply beautiful. It would have been a relief. People who killed their own flesh and blood - well, the link's obvious, opened and closed like a book. He's read about drowning, how when your lungs are full of water it feels just like breathing, like oxygen, once the pressure's equalized.
13. The Night Will Fall and You Will Crawl Inside by lazy_daze - Post Fresh Blood, Sam/Dean [NC-17] -A great coda to this episode as Sam and Dean try hard to hold onto each other. Oh, their love is so angsty and perfect. Dean felt nervous anticipation shiver down into his bones along with the downslide of the sun, the last orangey rays slanting through the windows, slicing through the room between the gaps of the saggy mattresses slumped against the windows.
14. It’s the Nature of My Game by dotfic - Post Fresh Blood, Dean/Bela [PG-13] - This is so perfectly in character for both Dean and Bela. I adored it. They way they talked to each other, how the coming together happens. It’s wonderful. She can't describe his tone as anything else but surly. It's almost endearing; he's practically pouting. Bela clicks her tongue against her teeth. "You poor thing." She snatches up the money, snaps the rubber band and flips through the bills, inhaling the familiar whiff of paper and ink. "Well. It all seems to be here."
RPS - Jsquared (6 Recs)
1. Enough for Me by audrarose - Jared/Jensen [NC-17] - So I love the schmoop and this is just wonderful and hot and made me smile. Jensen tries to leave Jared’s place, but Jared won’t let him leave. There is cuddling and lots of kissing and I just love it. Jared opens his eyes a little and shifts his body like he’s posing for a different photograph; gives Jensen a sleepy-sexy smile that almost makes Jensen climb back into bed with him. But then he immediately closes his eyes again and Jensen starts wondering why he even bothered coming back.
2. Fragile by destina - Jared/Jensen [R] - Set while filming All Hell Breaks Loose, Jensen has a hard time with the scenes and Jared tries to be there for him. I just love the two of them and how much they love one another. Tonight, though, Jensen's not asleep, and he shifts when Jared shifts, conscious of him, of the warmth of his skin and the way his shoulders twitch when the heater kicks on. His hair falls across his eyes, and Jensen smoothes it away.
3. Sex, Love and Lattes by __tiana__ - Jared/Jensen [R] - I’m not sure how to explain my utter love of this story. It’s hot and fluffy and just so perfectly how I like to imagine these boys. He tugged him into a kiss, a light press of lips. When Jensen opened under his pressure, he swiped his tongue in and over minty fresh teeth, reveling in the heat he found there, in the slow, easy slide of tongues. When the kiss ended, Jared released Jensen, who kind of hovered in mid-air, tongue licking his lips. He pulled off his sunglasses, revealing a face squinched in thought.
4. Curtain Call by sinoftheday - Jared/Jensen [NC-17] - Really hot schmoop as Jared shows up at Jensen’s last show of Few Good Men. Loved it. He takes one more discreet glance into the audience and decides that he’s only feeling this way because his entire family is here tonight including a ton of relatives and family friends.
5. Home Steady by jenadamson - Jared/Jensen [PG-13] - This is a great first time Jsquared story centered around Jared buying a house and how Jensen comes to be a huge part of that. Three days later, the couple moving to Toronto accepts his bid, and Jared has twenty-seven days before he's a full-fledged homeowner.
6. Chicago Nights by themoononastick - Jensen/Jared/Shia LeBeouf [NC-17] - I think my mind has turned to goo from reading this. Just the idea of these three hot boys together…YUM. This is so good and hot. Three hours later and Shia’s got some missing hours like he was kidnapped by aliens and whisked off to space for part of the night. He’s sitting on a bed in a room that’s way nicer than his - which he’s gonna talk to his agent about in the morning, if he survives that long - and he’s trying to remember how the fuck he got here.
