Here are a bunch for smaller fandoms and/or those that I don't have a full batch for. As always, if you like the story, let the author know. They'll love you for it. Happy reading, darlings!

When I Get Home for Christmas by
scrunchy - Dan/Casey - This is set in the ‘verse of her story
Decatur, which I recced before. Dan and Casey talk about the past holidays while at Sports Night. Wonderful banter, mention of hasidic reindeer, and Casey/Dan relationship. Really, these things never cease to make me happy. At twenty past midnight, Dan stepped out of the elevator with a huge shopping bag in each hand and the fluffy cuff of a Santa hat clenched between his teeth. Casey stopped laughing long enough to let him into the apartment.

Duck! (And Other Clues Leading to a Successful Apology by
lordessrenegade -Dan/Casey - Okay, I’m completely biased here because this was the story written for me for the
bubbleficathon, but it’s just perfect. Casey is his usual doltish self and finds his own special way to apologize to Dan, ending in a bubblebath and hotness. It’s just perfect. His first clue was the rubber ducky. It was on Dan's desk after the show, with a little red bow tied around its neck. I'm sorry, said the note tied to the end of the bow.

Getting’ Through This by
rachel_wilder - Jason/Tim/Lyla - Set in the aftermath of the homecoming game, Tim and Jason try to make sense of how complicated things have gotten, and Tim surprises Jay with a late night visit. I really loved the relationship between Tim and Jason in this story, how well they know each other and yet right now with all the lies seem so far apart. Really good stuff. It was so weird to have Jay there at the game-in some ways it felt like old times, but more than that it was a harsh shot of reality. Jason wasn't coming back to the team. He wasn't going to run out on the field ahead of them again. No, any time he went out there now it would be in that chair.

A Little Bit of Paint-By-Numbers by
them0rgue - Matt gen - A missing scene from 1x06 from Matt’s perspective as he battles with what’s the right thing to do and whose opinions matter most. Okay, I’m a total Matt fangirl. I love that boy, so anything about him makes me happy, but I really love this look at his character. It’s so true to who he is and what he’s battling with. I just love it. When Dolia comes by and offers him a ride, he almost refuses but then thinks about Julie saying he looks pathetic and how everyone in EZ’s knows he’s sitting in here moping like a girl. Plus, Dillon might be a small town, but he doesn’t want to walk across 191 just to prove a point. He shrugs and follows Dolia to the car, dreading the conversation to come.

Man Up by
hackthis - Jason/Tim, Jason/Lyla, Tim/Tyra - Jason and Tim’s relationship from first grade up through high school. This piece is a great look at the foundation of their friendship and the amount of love the guys have for one another. On the first day of first grade Jason Street wore his blue shirt with the red stripes and khaki shorts. His mother chose his outfit; Jason chose his shoes. Jason's mother wanted him to wear his nice oxfords, but Jason wanted to wear his sneakers with the mud and the scuff marks from playing football in the backyard with his dad.

And We Will Rise Up by
stele3 - Jason/Tim - A wonderful story filled with flashbacks as Tim kidnaps Jason from the rehab center…except in this story, Lyla doesn’t come along. I love the history between the boys and the way they each say so much without really saying anything. He’d known Riggs longer than he’d known anyone except his parents: they’d met in Peewee, before Lyla or even Coach. It was hard to imagine a time without Coach, seemed like prehistory, before God; but then Street remembered the sullen, bruised boy who’d shown up at practice one day because his big brother played varsity at the big kids school, and their daddy didn’t hit his brother so much.

Window by
tigs -Matt/Julie - This is a short ficlet, but I love this interaction between Matt and Julie. It’s so perfectly Matt, with the nervousness and adoration he has for Julie. Loved it. It isn't that far a walk from the theater back to Coach's house, ten or fifteen minutes max-'cause you can pretty much get anywhere in town in that amount of time-but still they manage to drag it out to nearly half an hour. Until just before the stroke of ten, which is when, as Julie says, she's been informed she'll turn back into a pumpkin.

All The Queen’s Horses by
elandrialore - Smallville, Clark/Oliver - This is extremely HOT. Oliver drags Clark to a charity event, run in with Lex ensues and truths about both their feelings for Lex manifest in really hot ways. Definite good read. Oliver grinned, putting a hand on Clark's shoulder. "Favor for a friend," he said amiably before climbing gracefully into the back of the limo. Clark still wasn't sure how people like he and Lex managed that. Was there a class or something?

In Stages by
cosmic - Brothers & Sisters - This is a pre-series Kitty fic and it’s really good stuff. I love the characterization of Kitty, how she came to be the person we see on the show, and her total loyalty to her family. Her father used to tell this story about how brave Kitty was, how she used to be afraid of water, but one day, when she was four or five, she decided to learn to swim, and just ran into the pool and dove, her eyes open, and didn't care about the sting.

The Art and Science of Thankfulness by
lila_blue - NCIS, Gibbs/DiNozzo, Abby/McGee - The author sums it up as a little romance, some angst, a turkey and sex. It’s also got spot on voices for the characters and schmoop and a very nice hopeful ending. Gotta love those. Out at Marshall and 17th, Tony probably was laughing over that one. He knew DiNozzo had snuck a battery-powered TV in the surveillance van. He knew because McGee, in a fit of vicarious remorse, had turned him in. But, hell, stakeout on Thanksgiving. Despite his reputation, even Gibbs had a heart.

Foresight by
mardia - Ugly Betty, Daniel/Betty, Henry/Betty - This story is a perfect little piece set from Daniel’s point of view as he watches Betty come into her own and discover love. I think my favorite thing about this is how Betty remains true to herself throughout the entire story. Daniel doesn't like change. What he does like is comfort, and security, and feeling like he fits into whatever situation he's in the middle of.
