Veronica Mars - 8 Recs

Jun 08, 2006 11:02

Hola my friends. I'm offically moved and won't be doing that again for awhile. So now it's back to ingesting lots of fanfiction and sharing good recs.

Veronica Mars (8 Recs)

1. This is About Lilly by gardinha - Post Pilot - This was a wonderful look at Veronica trying to come to terms with her own anger/loss over Lilly's death and how it changed her. The POV was spot on. "At the outset, it all seemed so normal. Just a joke, right? Except it wasn't. It was partly why Lilly insisted Veronica was strapless red satin. Partly why Lilly picked her as a friend. Partly what Lilly knew was there: Guts, wit and sparks."

2. Written on the Body by honeymink - Post Pilot - As both Logan & Veronica try to deal with the loss of Lilly and how they're enemies now, a weird relationship forms. She spent the next few days convincing herself it hadn't happened. She had awoken alone. Logan, in a typical guy fashion, avoided her. There was no trace of what they had done to each other. Life in Neptune went on.

3. The Color of My Envy by jennyo - Post Pilot - it reads like a possible episode where Veronica gets an admirer, who turns into a pain-in-the-butt and fun ensues. The Veronica voice rocks, part of which is due to the wonderful 1st POV. It’s a longer one, but brilliant all the same. I looked at this Nicole person critically. Transferring from Malibu seemed like the perfect pretense to cozy up to the 09ers, so why was this girl hanging out in social anathema territory?

4. Sucker Love by sinaddict - Post Pilot - Veronica/Logan, Lilly/Logan. Logan knows that he and Veronica are alike and it binds them together after Lilly's death. The night after Lilly's funeral, Logan kissed Veronica for the first time. He had himself halfway convinced that she tasted like Lilly, could almost pretend that she felt like Lilly beneath his hands.

5. The Comeback: The Vanity Fair Profile by yahtzee63 - Post Season 1 finale - If you’ve watched all of season one and haven’t read this story, you must stop everything and go read it now. It’s brilliant and cynical and painful because of how it all played out. "Try to imagine what was going through my mind," Aaron explains. We're sitting by the poolside at his rented bungalow in Malibu, a few hours before we'll leave for the Academy Awards afterparties. "I knew suspicion would fall on me. As absurd as it was - there would be people who thought I had killed Lilly Kane just because I was having an affair with her. Some people still do, I know."

6. Requim for Uncomplicated by amelia_kay - Post Season 2 finale - Dick Casablancas tries to deal with the aftermath of the season two finale. The Dick voice in this story is so wonderful and it was one of those things I was thinking about during those last few minutes of the episode. Great piece. The way Dick Casablancas sees it, somebody has to have gotten something wrong, and that somebody sure as hell isn't him.

7. If You’ve Got the Impulse by ehasu - Post Season 2 finale - And on the other end of the spectrum of great post-finale fic, there is some Veronica/Logan moments. The way it happens is so easy and typical of those two that I just love it dearly. "If I need anything, yes," he finishes for her, eyes alight with amusement. Veronica bites her lip before she leans up and kisses his cheek on an impulse.

8. I’m Awfully Fond of You by vivfic - Post Season 2 Finale - More Veronica/Logan because they are the only ship that makes my heart a flutter. And it’s bubble fic. The best thing about this story, well other than the two things mentioned above, is the spot-on Veronica voice. In general, Veronica does not think of herself as a girly girl. In point of fact, she's pretty certain no one thinks of her as a girly girl. Probably not even her dad, for all that he occasionally jokes about her being his little princess.
