A little more than a day left before I fly to Nepal for an Engineers Without Borders project. I have no illusions about this project - we're not going to save the world - but if paying workers and setting up a few digesters improves these people's lives in any way its an enormous step. Not to mention the amusement we will be supplying as bumbling foreigners.
Why is there always this numbness before the flight, my mind can't grasp the concept that soon I'll be in a remote village with no electricity or running water.
Oh but the stars, they will be lush and brilliant. I will put on my headphones (with Sigur Ros or Adam's mixed cd), try to untangle this mind from my (cold) body, and send it adrift in the strange medium that holds us afloat.
