One of the more involved projects I've done so far for the Ravelympics, the Sweetheart Lace Scarflet is my own design! \O/ Started it yesterday, and I just finished the last pattern details.
Sweetheart Lace Scarflet
Use: Chunky yarn, H hook or larger to fit yarn, G hook or 1 size down from your other hook to make the buttons
Special Stitches:
fdc = foundation double crochet
starting dc = instead of ch-2 or ch-3 to start a row of dc, pull up loop with hook, hold loop in place on hook with index finger, YO with loop itself, YO, draw under the first loop, YO, draw through last 2 loops on hook (
Brief video tutorial on YouTube, courtesy of TXCr1cket on Ravelry)
v-st = 'V' stitch; [dc, ch 1, dc] in same stitch
R1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), fdc 16; (17 dc total); (right side)
R2 & 3: Ch 1 (counts as sc), turn, sc in each st. across; (17 sc total); (wrong side and wrong side)
R4: Turn, work starting dc, dc in next st, sk next st, v-st in next st, *sk next 2 st, v-st in next st, repeat from * through all but last 4 sts, sk next st, dc in last 3 st; (4 v-st and 5 dc total); (all v-st rows are wrong side)
R5: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 2 st, sc around next st (into space between dc and v-st), *1 sc in ch-1 space of v-st, 2 sc between v-sts, repeat from * to end (with 1 sc between last v-st and next dc, sc in each of last 2 dc); (17 sc total); (all sc rows from here on out are right side)
R6: Turn, work starting dc, dc in next 2 sts, sk next st, *v-st in next st, sk next 2 sts, repeat from * through all but last 3 sts, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts; (4 v-st and 5 dc total)
R7: Ch 1, turn, sc in next st, sc around next st (into space between dc and v-st), *1 sc in ch-1 space of v-st, 2 sc between v-sts, repeat from * to end (with 1 sc between last v-st and next dc, sc in each of last 3 dc); (17 sc total)
Repeat rows 4 through 7 until scarflet wraps around neck comfortably and can be buttoned (~16 times total).
Finish with 1 row of sc and 1 row of dc; finish off and weave in ends.
3 Button Pairs (cuff-link-style): with smaller hook, 7 sc in magic ring, sl st to 1st sc, sl st over the back to secure, ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, 7 sc in ring, sl st to first sc, sl st over the back to secure; weave in ends
Secure with buttons in any preferred position, fold down for collared look.
*Please feel free to comment, especially if you find any problems with the pattern; it'll be going up on Ravelry as a free PDF in a few weeks. :D
