Sorry, Your Earl Is In Another Basement

Jan 06, 2012 19:07

Hello everyone!

Caru here--yes, Cain-mun--and, as you may know, Cain is, at present, kidnapped (I ♥ commas). That's the point of this post: Cain has been kidnapped by Mr. Gabriel Corpseblight (lovely fellow, really) and there are now a lot of people sort of tangentially involved besides Cain and Gabe (HWK, Rosella, the City Police, Riff, Cain's ( Read more... )

Okay, so here's a twist (that is also hopefully not a wrench in anyone's plans), re: what goes down in the actual rescue:

If Cain is being kept in a basement that smells like a graveyard, I think that could probably easily fit the bill of "a dank, dark place"--which means one trick Rosella would almost certainly think to pull is using her sleep powder to cast "Causing a Deep Sleep". It would involve a little acorn dust getting chucked around and everyone except her (including Cain--sorry, little stormcloud!) dropping into a deep sleep that would last...probably about an hourish? Granted, I don't know how that might affect Gabe and whatever flavor of undead he might be, but Rosella would assume it's a surefire way of knocking out any potential villains who might be lingering around, so I feel like she'd try it as a precaution.

Of course, the problem there would be keeping any other rescuers (Riff, Dean, etc?) from getting caught up in it, and if it proves more trouble than it's worth, I can always scrap the idea entirely. But it's a ( ... )

That graveyard thing is ttly his fault. Not even old spice covers up zombie odor.

Gabe doesn't need to sleep and I don't think his animated state would be too sensitive to any sleeping spells or powders (in game, Forsaken has a skill called 'Will of the Forsaken' which negates all stun and sleep effects) BUT this is another world and he might end up groggy from it. Either way, he'll slip into invisibility and just... look. Because he's a creepy bastard.

So as far as Gabe's involvement in the general rescue scenario is concerned, you're mostly aiming for a very low profile with no immediate repercussions? I know you mentioned that he's going to watch who comes and potentially enact payback later, but I'm curious what, if any, damage you're willing to let him suffer in exchange, since that'll have an effect on how the structure of the rescue actually plays out.

Yeah, he'll pretty much turn invisible as soon as he hears them coming and will let them take Cain without interfering at all - so he will not suffer any repercussions this time, but obviously adds up chances of getting his ass kicked badly later when someone figures out who he is.

I have no problem with Dean ending up sleepy or even asleep from it. If Rosella tells him about it before hand he'll just go with the tried and true method of tying a bandanna around his face and end up groggy from only sort of inhaling it.

That's where it gets a little complicated--it's not inhalation-based. Spreading the dust is part of the requirement for the spell to work, but it's at its core an area-effect spell, so anybody within a certain radius is going to get hit, regardless of what they're doing or the precautions they take against it.

Granted, if you're a zombie with a resistance to sleeping spells, that's an inherent basis for a pass, but average humans will just drop like sacks of potatoes if they're within the radius, regardless.

hmmm well maybe Dean could go to provide back up? Let them go in and do the spell work and then Dean (and whoever else) charge in afterwards to make sure it all goes off without a hitch?

Like I said, it's not a dealbreaker for me if she doesn't do it! Since she's the only one who can effectively move around within the spell, it's the kind of thing that would make sense for her to use if she were alone. But if she's coming in with backup, there might not be reason to in the first place, you know?

To be honest, Rosella's an adventurer more than a fighter, so if it came down to it, she'd probably let Dean (and Riff?) call the shots on the action. And I'm not averse to letting them take point if that's what would make the most sense for the given scenario, either. o/

Hrm I'm okay either way honestly. Dean trusts Rosella enough to take her advice on something like that and he wants to make sure this is done without hurting people if at all possible. So that being said, if her plan was the one without the body count, he'd let her go in, cast the spell and wait a few before going in after her to make sure everyone gets out okay.

Doot doot, threadjacking ;~;

Rosella-mun messaged me earlier to say that RL has gotten the better of her for the moment (and rather unexpectedly ;; ), so Rosella's involvement may have to be handwaved. As she said, they've "got Riff and Dean and the police force and whatnot coming along with her, so that's plenty of firepower and muscle, and there's really not a whole lot she'd do independently of that anyway, so."

So I think whatever you think will work best will be all right...

Okay, well I'm around tomorrow afternoon but not tomorrow night SO basically I'll do anything ya'll want. Dean will ideally send someone around the back while he goes in the front, gun out. If that and the timing works then we can either say she went in before them and majicked the place or really whatever she wants Rosella's part in things to be.

It may all end up being handwaved just to make things easier, if that's okay. As long as we all know what happened so that, if we want, we can reference the events later and all.

(lol wrong account ;; sorry)

(no worries, I think I've used the right account once this whole convo)

Okay, that's fine with me. Just whatever works for everyone else.

All right, cool. Thank you for being so flexible about this, especially with these last minute complications, sob ._.

Handwaving's okay with me, or even Riff appearing magically after the rescue, if that's easier to negotiate? Since I'm not sure what went down with him appearing and finding Cain... uuh. So basically, as long as we figure out what happened, I'm cool with not writing it out.
