The waiting game

It's been a while since I updated this.

In December, I applied for an NSF fellowship that would pay me to spend 8 weeks in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, or Taiwan doing academic research (in my case, computer science). The program guide states that notification of acceptance is given in February. With some Google-stalking of last year's participants, I found one that got his notice by email on February 16th, and another on February 18th. The rest of December and January went by just fine, but now the anticipation is killing me. Every time the new mail icon comes up on my taskbar I get a shot of adrenaline, and it's really getting old. What makes it worse is that the guide also doesn't say if they'll send a notice of rejection; they only mention acceptance.
