This is really lovely, and very well written... you could really feel castle's heartbreak. Thanks for posting :)

I enjoyed so much about this. Really nicely written, great how you established Castle's mood, how you had him trying to read her and sometimes failing at it miserably. I love that he just wants to keep her with him and how he loves her storytelling abilities! -- fantastic point, you can totally see that in their relationship from the first story she tells him about her mother. And I love little touches you included like her face changing as soon as Josh interrupts, cos it always did. I just love getting insights into old eps and this felt exactly like where they were in season 3.

Thankyou for this, just lovely. :)

Thanks so much for the nice review!

RE: Castle and Kate as storyteller. Absolutely. It's such a well done scene when she tells him about here mother. And I love that Castle always covers his mouth when she's telling him a story. It's such a nice bit of body language that conveys how much he wants every story about her and how intently he listens.

Thanks again. I know this wasn't the bit of happy fluff one expects/craves for Valentine's Day and I really appreciate the kind words.

Hm, I shall look out for the mouth-covering gesture, never noticed that before. Whenever Kate Beckett tells a story is generally the only time Richard Castle shuts up for any length of time so it makes sense...

I wasn't expecting fluff (and would never call another person's work fluff as I find it demeaning when others do it to mine, frankly). This is exactly the sort of thing I like reading (and writing) and I'd rather read something well written and IC than something overly romanticised or sexual. I may be in the minority though.
