Life is Strange
Sometimes I just don't understand the way life works. I went to my friend's daughter's wedding yesterday. It was beautiful-just perfect. All of my girlfriends and I had a great time dancing and having fun. We stayed at the hotel where the wedding was being held so we wouldn't have to worry about drinking and driving. It was like a great big slumber party. We all woke up this morning and went our separate ways.
This afternoon, my girlfriend called to let me know that our girlfriend's (the one whose daughter was married yesterday)husband suffered a heart attack while getting ready to leave the hotel and died. We couldn't believe it. One day is the happiest day of this family's life and the next is the saddest. My friend's daughter will always have the memory that her father died the day after her wedding. One minute, this man is dancing and having a good time at his daughter's wedding. Then, 18 hours later, he is dead. I feel so badly for my girlfriend. They were married for 32 years. I was watching them dance last night thinking how happy they looked together after all of those years of marriage. It is just so shocking and unreal to me.
Our other girlfriend's mother has been very ill with cancer for the past several months. We also heard that she did not think her mother was going to make it through today.
So, it looks like our group of friends will have two funerals to attend within the next couple of weeks. My group of friends is very close and we are all so lucky to have one another for support through times like this.
God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, I just don't understand. I try very hard to keep the faith that everything happens for a reason-even if I don't understand it.
