My parents are those Republicans you only see on TV these days.

My mother and father are remaining steadfast republicans. Quintessential rich white over fifty racists*. It is absolutely breaking my heart. My mother is defensive about it - seems to be seeing that the world is turning against her "views" and that she must defend them with ridiculous statements like "He hangs around with some questionable people." referring to Obama. Really mom? That's why your not voting for him? Have you been under a rock? Have you done any research or has Bill O'Reilly taken over your brain? Questionable people? If that's your reason, maybe you should be educated on who Bush and McCain have also been affiliated with. (My parents still support Bush. Seriously.)

It just breaks my heart. People being so stuck on their ideas that they can't see ANYTHING through them. Don't see that they are supporting an absolute failure of a party (not just for the poor, for EVERYONE) and pathetically trying to dismiss policies and a candidate who could actually fix things, someone who is unarguably presidential, sound of mind, and un-politician-y. My mom said that Obama is a result of Chicago Politics and that there is no system more corrupt than Chicago Politics. SERIOUSLY? SERIOUSSSSSLY? You think Barack Obama is CORRUPT? YOU SUPPORT GEORGE BUSH!?@#!@!

The whole conversation really broke my spirit.

*this is not an attack, simply a fact. I was not allowed to go to a high school dance with a black boy for the specified reason of his color. Six years later I highly doubt my parents would vote for a black president, for the specified reason of his color.
