A documentary on "Cyberpunk" circa 1990.

It's really bad. Actually, I don't even know why I sat through the whole thing, or even why I'm reposting this link because it's so bad. And long. Over an hour.

okay that's freaking creepy.

I just stumbled that about 2 hours ago and decided to sit through the whole thing as I worked, finished it and checked LJ

Damn that CG was bad...

There were some amusing bits that made you want to pat the naivety on the head and go 'awww, that's so cute'

A wee bit heavy on the Gibson though. I mean there are /other/ cyberpunk authors who made contributions to the genre.

HAHAHA

I stumbled it last night, queued it up, and just got around to watching it tonight. So you sat through the whole thing too? Impressive :D

Yeah, they needed to get some other authors involved... besides Gibson and Leary. Leary's line about inner city kids having the data storage and communications equivalents of TV networks in their pockets was just about spot on though. :)

Also; sorry about earlier... stuff broke at work and I spent the rest of the day running around fixing things. We were shorthanded cause it's a Friday and everything was a mess.

no bother, I fell into a code trance actually... (the what do you mean it's 2? I've not had lunch yet...). Amazingly interrupt free (a rarity these days).

I think that's part of why I watched the whole thing. For 17 years ago, it did get a lot of trending right. Though horrendously off on the pacing.

VR is just barely usable (MIT has a nice VR/Real world blending vid up).
3d Environments are relegated to gaming, not social per say (well there is that recent Second Life thing ;) )
Blind Sensory implants are at around 60 pixels (up from 16)

Empowerment of the individual to challenge the state... well, okay they didn't get that one right (ah optimism). Or as an acquaintance once said. "Damn't I've got my dystopia, where are my cool implants"
