I live-blogged my comments about the Law & Order season/probable-series finale over at
johnjmccoy, so I thought I'd copy and paste here, too, since IT WAS KIND OF EPIC AND MOST LIKELY THE LAST EPISODE EVER AND WHAT NOT.
My commentary/quotes/etc. on 20x23 "Rubber Room" --
Is this an SVU episode? Kind of starts out that way.
AWWW, the intro. Strut your stuff hopefully NOT one last time, guys. ♥
"The sex cops want to talk to you." Be afraid. Be very afraid. Munch will kick your ass.
Speaking of kick-ass, heyyyy, Van Buren.
...unfortunately, for me, awkward cliche cancer scenes are still awkward and cliche...
(Epatha better at LEAST get an Emmy nom, though)
"A bomber with itchy hands..."
- Lupo listens in on the Lieu's conversation...
- Lupes and B play basketball! "You know white boys can't jump!" Hehehehe.
- And they PLOT to plan something for the Lieu...
- Wait, wait, wait, is this a ripped from the headlines from the Times Square thing that JUST happened?? Damn.
Speaking of Ripped From the Headlines? I will still read news headlines and think "I wonder when this will be a Law & Order episode..."
*brb, weeping a little...*
EMIL. FUCKING. SKODA.
HELL YES, SKODA.
His presence in this episode makes everything that much more okay.
WHAT'S UP, TEAM??? The shot of the cops AND lawyers with the fed guy and Connie and Mike being PISSED....AUGHHHHH, I LOVE IT. SO MUCH.
Oh, Cutter. Your beautiful tie (...dude, it had silver in it...I'm easily impressed by shiny things...)
Gahhh, the doink-doinks are even making me emo.
- This girl looks like, TWELVE, WTF.
- "Moot." Rly?
"So much for the element of surprise." - Bernard
Fuck you, Jay Leno and your stupid advertisement.
DAMMIT, our local news station did a special "behind the scenes" "one last time" thing after the finale!! And obviously I didn't tape it....
- Department of Education...union lawyers...I missed something. But, awww, Connie and the cops...(retroactively: it made sense later.)
- O haiii, Olympic athlete Lindsay Vonn!
- VAN BUREN IS NOT A POT ROAST, JSYK.
- WHAT. CONNIE WAS A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER. WHAT.
IDK, some of the personal info this season (like random Cutter tidbits, too) seem...superfluous/tacked on/not thought out...like, we have an episode about education! Let's make Connie a former teacher! We have an episode about a divided family! Let's make Cutter have parental issues!, etc.
- Clearly I'll need to see this again because I just missed Cutter being all talky-talky to the grand jury.
Grand jury, LET CUTTER DO HIS THINK, K? GEEZ.
VAN BUREN SEES UR EMAIL.
"It was supposed to be a surprise..."
AHAHAHAHA.
"Screw that."
I LOVE YOU, CYRUS FREAKING LUPO.
Oh, snap. Go Cutter and Skoda. FIGHT TIME. Hehehehe.
Rubber Room? WHAT?! DAMN.
Awww, Ernie Hudson. Not your fault your plot was so syrupy this season but I LIKE YOU.
OOOOH, LUPO GETTING MAD.
OMG JACK MCCOY.
Jack McCoy: Just how far up your ass is your head?!
[followed by...]
Jack McCoy: My advice to you is GET OUT OF MY WAY.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack McCoy = prosecutorial perfection.
Holy chaos, Batman!
GO LUPES & B!
I love that they're saving everyone...*sniff*
So, there's a lot less lawyers in this episode...but...it's fitting...and the scenes that the lawyers HAVE been in have been totally bad-ass.
BAR.
AWWWW, JACK TOLD THE DETECTIVES THEY DID GOOD.
WOAH. EVERYONE'S SMIILING. THIS IS CREEPY.
RODGERS.
!!!!!!!!
"You've got a lot of friends, Lieutenant."
AUGHHHHHHHHH.
*WEEP*
THEY'RE ALL SMILING AND HAPPY AND HUGGING AND KISSING AND AND AND I DON'T HAVE WORDS. JUST CAPSLOCK.
PS, Connie and Mike totally get it on after the party. Just so you know.
neojess and I just had a little post-ep chat...you all should know us by now. We like complaining. It's fun and amusing...
We honestly couldn't find anything to complain about in this episode.
If it is in fact the Last Episode Ever (barring last-minute Dick Wolf/TNT negotiations, which as far as I know are still going on since we haven't heard otherwise), way to go. It was a fitting goodbye for VB and it really showed that the team goes on, the work goes on, the show really does always go on/will never die.
It also managed to remind me of all the reasons I fell in love with the show to begin with and I think I managed to love it EVEN MORE in its end.
OKAY, I'LL STOP BEING ALL MUSHY NOW.
Seriously though...while the lawyers weren't in it a lot, it wasn't in a bad way, like I said. I mean, Jack got to be a total fucking badass and Connie and Mike got some good lines. On the cop side, Lupo and Bernard were KICK-ASS PARTNERS and Van Buren got a happily ever after.
Hell, yes, and they will all live on in reruns.
