Well I got a card on my anniversary & also woke up to our song playing on iTunes. Well, he had it set up for me to play while I got ready for work. It was sweet and a great way to start my day. We went out to dinner early @ Shamus T Bones (BBQ) & came back so he could do his homework...
Our neighbors came over, twice, to insist we come down & have a dinner with them that night. LOL. we were so stuffed but we went down to the other end of the parking lot & they had this huge spread of food going. We met some people from the complex we've never seen before, so that was cool, and we talked about how the landlord is making them remove the basketball hoop.
One lady has complained about the noise of the bouncing balls (and apparently another complex? Geez I can't even hear the ball bouncing with my window closed, and open it's NOTHING compared to other neighbors who blast music all day/night). We received a letter asking whoever is responsible for the hoop to remove it. They moved it out of site but it's still here, they want to put it back up.
They had us sign a petition, which actually makes a good case. I honestly wasn't interested in signing it until I read it. I found out my upstairs neighbor got mugged several months ago down the street by 3 guys, they broke his shoulder & sliced him with a knife- he has a huge scar! That's so crazy. The landlord suggests the kids in the complex walk 12 blocks to go play basketball instead. That's what really got me, not that this is Oakland or some shit but damn I wouldn't let my kids walk half that far alone in this neighborhood! And now, after that story, I'm like should I walk to Subway/CVS/Safeway anymore? :/
I'm like that's the least of our worries let the kids have fun with it. Yeah people bring their friends over & it does get noisy down there but I don't think that part's even gonna stop because most of the time the adults are just sitting in lawn chairs drinking down there anyway. They invited us to a weekly Thursday night potluck, next week is Mexican and I think just I might go hang out with the neighbors. Not sure what to make.
Anyway that end of the complex all know each other well & were telling me all these stories like, woah you guys are really involved in this little community! I honestly thought nobody gave a shit. It was refreshing. I've been thinking on the whole community feel in this complex, it's nice to know a good portion of people in this complex has each other's back.
Did I ever write about the letter we wrote to dog-pee neighbor upstairs? It was as passive as a passive-aggressive note could be, and he actually came down and talked to James when I was at work one day about it, and the other day he stopped us in the parking lot to ask if we've noticed dog pee smell anywhere. He walks his dog all the time now, I guess when he was injured from getting mugged that's when the whole trend started. :/ So I felt bad about that, because really I would have walked his dog for him to prevent pee all over our sidewalk if I knew. Anyway so glad we finally wrote the note because that is no longer an issue and he's really a nice guy.
Nice long ramble about the neighbors, lol. HAPPY SATURDAY! Off to shower, farmer's market, then the river with friends!!! Supposed to be a hot one inland, woo!!
