Wow. Summer does not lend itself to being written about. I've been very busy, and it's not about to change!
First,a brief bit about Disney World. I love Disney, and I'm so glad I got to go back to the park. It was a lot of fun with my family, and I had a great time. I rode rides that I was too young for last time (Tower of Terror, etc.) and I got to wander about with my sister, travelling anywhere we pleased. The Magic Kingdom fireworks were beautiful, and the new Expedition Everest Ride was creative and fun.
Yesterday, I pulled off (with the help of many) Joshua's surprise birthday party, which I almost posted about once, but remember that he can read this too. It went really well. We spent the day out and got a professional photography session that I won at Mayfair. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of driving. But we had a nice casual party with his friends and family.
I have not written of my two new typewriters yet! The one is one I think I've mentioned. It's broken, and it was sitting around in the properties room at school. The room was being cleared out, and I was told I could have it. Then, of course, I couldn't find it. But Josh was at the school to see a showcase, and he picked it up for me. Also via Josh is my new prized typewriter: A 1914 Underwood No. 4. It belonged to his friend, my acquaintance, a professor and letterpress artist who is moving this week. Josh was helping him pack, and he asked that I receive this typewriter. It is in impossible, amazing condition. It was a gift to his grandfather when his grandfather was a young man. The decal is a little worn in places, it needs a new ribbon, and there is a little chipping and a lot of dust, but that's not bad for almost one-hundred years. I began cleaning it with q-tips and a toothbrush the day I got it. I have five typewriters in my growing collection. That's five in one year!
Thursday, I'm going to Musikfest, Saturday, I'm going to Cape May for a week! Before I go to Cape May, I MUST have finished reading To the Lighthouse and chosen my audition pieces. Auditions are the beginning of September. I already have my Comedic Classical monologue (from The Game of Love and Chance). I need a Contemporary Dramatic monologue (probably a Churchill one, since I have an unread anthology of hers) and 16 bars of a song in the style of Little Women, the musical. The last one is tough, because I have a lot of songs I know, but I need the sheet music. Also, I must find a good song that shows range, etc. I'm thinking of The King and I, but I haven't got that music...
