I bought another Jimmy back in June. $1000. Bad fuel injectors. I replaced the injectors and did a lot of other little fixes on it like replacing the heater control relay and reattaching the headlight mounting bracket. The one thing I had trouble with was the transmission. It was leaking intermittently. The tranny fluid got on the exhaust crossover pipe and caused a lot of smoke. I looked around under the truck and couldn't find a reliable source of the leak so I took it to a local shop. They replaced the front pump seal on the tranny and it still leaked. They replaced the torque converter bushing and it still leaked. Now it leaks constantly.
Not wanting to deal with pulling the transmission out, I started looking around for other options. I found one Wednesday. 1994 Blazer, 130,000 miles, bad starter, $400. It's in excellent shape but it needs a new starter. It's owned by a mechanic who just replaced the fuel injectors and did a complete transmission service. It's in excellent shape. The starter went out on it when he was out in the rain and he got disgusted with it and decided to sell it. He sat on it for a couple months trying to get some of his money back out of it but his wife decided she didn't want it sitting in the driveway any more. I got him down to $300. I should get it on Monday.
I expect to get it started very soon thereafter.
