I'm not sure what the pope and christian leaders are going to do. As far as I'm aware the cristian countries don't currently imprison or kill people for coverting islam.

I would be more interested if the muslim leaders were writing to the family of saud and the iranian leadership to urge greater understanding between the two faiths.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here helicopter man..but then again my brains can be a bit slow sometimes.

Actually, this country that is "based on Christian values" has imprisoned, tortured and killed quite a few people for no crime other than being Muslim. And quite a few Americans supported that.

You are correct in stating that certain interpretations of the Koran approve of death to those who turn away from Islam, you cannot say that all muslims follow that.
To effect a change where it is still carried out is to support the reformers in that country not to challenge the countries leaders who use foreign intervention as intervention in the nations sovereignty and srengthens their position.

It just so happens that that the *war agains terror* is against muslims,
Chechnya seeking independence has been devastated by Russia. in opposing Russia they are declared terrorists and the West goes along with that.

Any response from the Pope will be listened to if it is to the advantage
of the USA

I have never said that all muslims follow anything. I am simply pointing out that there are a seem to be more muslims willing to behead some one over a cartoon mocking their religion than in other religions.

"not to challenge the countries leaders who use foreign intervention as intervention in the nations sovereignty and srengthens their position."

it strengthens their position if we do not challange them, then their rhetoric changes to "see they will not challange us". Rhetoric is just rhetoric. A totalitarian government who is branding the U.S. as "the great satan" isn't going to stop if we ignore them.

It just so happans the terrorist are muslims...kinda be silly if we went and started looking for al qeada in buhddist populations...

Putin is one scary fellow...damn politically sharp too.
