If they wanted to end the way, they wouldn't schedule the vote for war funds.
They very well know that any bill to end the way will go down so it is pointless and just showboating.
If they were serious they know what they need to do to end the war.
They don't have enough guts to do it.

Sadly he would keep them there without a dime to spend on them.
It would be a fruitful first step to getting other bills passed that would quicken the troop withdrawal. The Democrats have the power to demand that a exit plan be in place before any further money is released.
Do you see where I am going with this.

Three bills with out any strength behind it. They know they won't pass and will be shot down and the Democrats look silly and are wasting time as more die in a unwinnable war.

If they hold on to the money and say you can have it if there is a real exit plan shown. They need to get the upper hand and when they threaten to withhold money they will gain some strength in their actions.

It isn't about keeping money away from the troops. The Pentagon still has plenty of money to keep the military running in Iraq. It's about taking a stand and having some guts.

Putting through bills with no chance of making it anyway isn't doing anything other than wasting time.
They aren't doing anything other than showboating as they know their weak little bills aren't going to go anywhere.

It's a failed plan from the start. They need to start taking stronger moves to force something to happen. If there isn't money coming through, Bush will have to weaken and maybe set a new path down for Iraq as this current path isn't working. He keeps on it as no one is putting pressure on him.

This is exactly the problem with the democrats, from the elected on down. WEAK all around. Will sit and just sulk rather than actually doing something.
Yes, I am addressing you.

But you are.
You are all like:
*whining* "Buuuut the Democrats are doing something. The mean Republicans just keep bloooocking themmm."

Democrats are doing zip. They don't have the balls to do anything. They are spineless idiots failing to fulfill promises.

Except that what he's telling you is the truth. The Congress can't act without the Senate and many people, myself included, don't want to potentially fuck over those serving in the military to enact change from the Commander in Chief. I'm sorry that you're too lost in your anti-war screed to be able to understand that reality.

Perhaps you should sign up with the Bush team? They seem to suffer from the same type of delusions.

I love the pointless, repetitive arguments that go on here. Basic points made:

The Democrats are doing something, but it isn't working. The bills will all fail, and thus are merely a PR stunt to make it look like they are doing something.

Point 2: The Dems have, in fact, put forward proposals to both cut funding and press for a timetable. The latter was vetoed, while the former a) wouldn't matter anyway since Bush could just requisition emergency funding or take $ from the Pentagon to fund the war, and b) see below.

The point you are forgetting is that, unfortunately, PR matters. Most Americans do not take the time to research and analyze the complexities of most issues at the national or international level. Thus, what the President says means a lot more than the truth or untruth of said words might suggest, because lots of people will listen to the ruling party because there is a common thought that, 'they got elected, they have access to information, they must understand things better than me'. What doesn't come into the ( ... )
