It's not necessarily my wish. (The tweets are not mine; I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear.) But I do have mixed feelings; it could be better or it could be worse. At least Trump, in his incompetence and emotional immaturity, is helping to keep the Republican leaders in Congress from doing the major damage to the country they're trying so hard to do. I think that they thought not only that they could control him (yes puppet) and do whatever they wanted, but that they'd get Pence in sooner or later. (And damn if I'm not enjoying how McConnell, Ryan and their ilk are desperately flailing; they've found out how incompetent they are, now that they've finally got the control they've been dreaming of for years. (It's like the dog chasing the car -- what does he do if he catches it?) )
And, if Pence does get in while the Republicans still have a congressional majority, he'll be in many ways just as dangerous -- in that he looks so much better in comparison to Trump that many people will breathe sighs of relief, and he actually knows how to work with Congress, so may be able to bring enough Republicans back into the fold to get some of that major legislation through -- and worse. He's a slimy SOB who lies better than any of the other corrupt bastards in the administration, and his extremist and hateful views and dreams of a "Christian" theocracy are the stuff of nightmares. (If he gets in and has any success in that direction, will you do us a favor and invade us?)
Trump, on the other hand, is pushing America towards war with North Korea and Iran (if not nuclear, conventional would still be a disaster), brought out from under its rocks and emboldened the worst scum in the country, and nearly destroyed what trust in, and respect for, the American government that Americans and the rest of the world used to have. I did everything I could (or thought I could) to prevent this, but it wasn't enough -- and I still feel terribly guilty and ashamed of my country.
I'm just hoping that the 2018 midterms will give the Democrats at least some control back. But between Russia, voter suppression, and apathy, I'm almost afraid to hope any more. Fingers and toes crossed. (If my Toronto brother can't fit us in, can my husband and I sleep on your couch? We're good at housecleaning and yard work, and the cats are adorable.)

Sorry, I shouldn't have presumed posting meant agreement.
Meanwhile, as an outside observer (I'm Canadian), I said during the election that there were no good options for the US, and I think it's even more true now.
While Trump is playing nuclear chicken with North Korea, and seems to be pushing for war with Iran, Clinton said she would be playing nuclear chicken with Russia (via her insistence on war in Syria) and her history gave me no reason to doubt her.
I see no reason to think Pence would be any less belicose internationally, and suspect he'd be a lot more effective at getting horrible legislation passed domestically.
Democrat or Republican, the war party wins, and Americans' freedoms will keep being eroded.
