Remember days of shock and awe
Bombs beneath the Baghdad sky
We pulled down the statue with flags unfurled
And Cheney and Rumsfeld standing by
But when Mission Accomplished finally fails
And we wake from this neocon fairy tale
The soldiers fall, the mothers wail
Since Dubya had to lie

I know a place where we can vote
For a different kind of man
Who knows who he is and means what he says
And stands for the common man

Just lay your hand on that machine
Punch the chad or touch the screen
Use your heart and common sense
This is the end
This is the end of the ignorance

Oh beautiful free-market skies
Now those vaults are emptying
We let corporations off the leash
And human nature did its thing
When Merrill and Lehman and WaMu fail
And not a single CEO goes to jail
Wall Street banks hold fire sales
While the middle classes cry

I know a place where we can vote
For a man who keeps the dream alive
Who won't break faith with the jobless folks
While the oil barons thrive

Just raise your head up to the sound
And let the crowd grow all around you
Speak of Bush in the past tense
This is the end
This is the end of the arrogance

Who knew how long these dark days would last
Or that the winds would change so fast
But somewhere back there in the dust
Is the America we lost in each of us

I need to remember this
So blow Cheney one last kiss
And let us take a long last look
As Dubya waves good-bye

Seems I've been waiting all my life
For an end to lies and waste and strife
Let's come together, pull down the fence
This is the end
This is the end of arrogance
And the ignorance
