On February 12th, 2012 the world stood still. For exactly 12 minutes everything went black.
A world that once held over six billion human beings, now holds exactly two dozen. There are no bodies, just memories... at least for some.
All over the world an individual wakes up completely alone after 12 minutes.
All over the world with the exception of one university..
Four individuals come to after 12 minutes scattered across a Massachusetts college campus. While one of the four wakes up with no memories whatsoever, another wakes up with more memories than before The Blackout. The party boy turned leader, the prodigy who knows more than she can say, the tomboy with no recollection of her past, and the carefree sorority girl now need to ban together to survive a threat that only one of them is aware of lurking their same campus.
Matthew is 23 years old and a party boy, or at least he was. For his entire life Matthew never had to answer to anyone and coasted on his good looks. Post-Blackout though, Matthew finds himself in the role of leader and everyone's survival lands on him. After living your entire life knowing that a devilish grin and your parent's back account can get you out of anything, will Matthew be able to step it up?
Hannah is 19 years and some what of a prodigy. Hannah is shy and somewhat awkward. Completely oblivious to the advances from the men around her, Hannah prefers to throw herself into her studies in the medical field, concentrating on nuero sciences. While Jo has no memory of her past whatsoever, Hannah remembers her past perfectly fine with the exception of the week preceeding her 12th birthday - seven years ago to this day - when she unexpectedly fell into a coma. This at least was the case before The Blackout as within seconds of coming to, the memories of those seven days come flooding back to Hannah and she finds herself the only one with any idea of what her and her classmates are up against.
Jo is an 18 year old tomboy, and as a result is in a perpetual state of eye-roll mode whenever in the same room as Pandora. Jo is the only survivor of The Blackout that came out of it with no memory whatsoever. She has no idea that seconds before The Blackout she was having lunch with her twin brother, the person she was closest to in the world. While the others have to deal with mourning their lost loved ones amidst surviving, Jo has to deal with the fact that she can't mourn simply because she doesn't know whom to mourn after.
Pandora is 22 years old and essentially the female version of Matthew, only the severity of the situation they all find themselves in hasn't hit her yet. Pandora is still under the impression that girls like Hannah and Jo are below her, and that Matthew could be hers with just a bat of an eyelash. As far as Pandora is concerned, all everyone needs is some music to dance to and a shot or two of tequila.
Johnathan's age is unknown. While niether Matthew, Hannah, Jo nor Pandora ran in the same circles in university they all cross paths at some point or another whether they knew it or not pre-Blackout. Perhaps Jo and Hannah while studying in the library; Matthew and Pandora perhaps at the same frat party one weekend. Johnathan however has no such connections, but no one realizes this as he is passing himself off as a Professor... or so he thinks. Unbeknownst to Johnathan, the only one that knows the truth about him and his 11 collegues that refer to themselves all as The Collective is Hannah. While Johnathan was assigned to this district to take inventory of the survivors he has no idea that one of his own inventory subjects knows The Collective's true intentions.
