It's Thanksgiving and it seems like we're having a curse to celebrate...? I can't really say I mind, it's good for people to know that others care about them and that their existence makes others happy.

I'm thankful for Karolina and Molly and Takiko and Emille and Remy and Remus and Ryoutarou wow a lot of Rs and everyone else I've met since I ( Read more... )

I still feel like I'm probably forgetting some people.

I'm sure you'll remember. I gave up on making lists a while ago. After a couple hundred Thanksgivings the lists were getting very long and repetitive.

I still like the food, though.

I could see how that would be true, but it must a nice problem to have.

Everybody likes the food, even vegetarians.

Yes, I suppose it is. Though there are some who would get tired of living after so long.

Even the vegetarians? I couldn't imagine Thanksgiving without turkey.

I hope that's not true for you.

I expect to be educated in the ways of vegetarian thanksgiving some time tonight. Tofurky, I think.

No. Even with all I've been through, I like being alive.

Tofurkey? I'll have to try one sometime. Back in the homelands there's a much higher ratio of Fable (talking) animals to regular ones, and no one eats the talking ones.

Good. But what would happen if a Fable decided to kill themselves? Would all the stories about them disappear?

Apparently it's not bad. Tofu is tofu, after all. I haven't been completely converted to vegetarianism, but it would be pretty awkward to eat something you could have talked to the day before.

No. It's...complicated and we don't even really know how it works. A lot of the times when a Fable dies, they are magically replaced somewhere else. It'd be a different person, but they'd fill the same role.

I've never even had tofu.

That's interesting. It's making me really curious to find out if there are Fables at home in my world too.

Really? It doesn't really taste like anything on its own, but it's supposed to be good for you. You should come with us to Karolina's tonight, I'm sure we've got more than enough food.

We are in many worlds, so there might be.

I'd love to join you, but I am eating with my roommate tonight. Perhaps some other time?

They probably wouldn't be so open about it as you are here, though, right?

Of course!

Where I'm from, at least, we are not allowed to tell any regular humans about the Fables. But you and your friends aren't 'regular humans', right? I'm not sure what we'd do in that case.

I'm not a very good cook, I warn you. I can barely use the microwave.

In my case I guess you could say I'm not human at all, but I like to think of myself as human anyways. I think if there were Fables in our world and they were allowed to talk about themselves somebody would know about them. The Fantastic Four, at least.

That's fine, I like cooking. There's something really satisfying about making something from scratch that other people can enjoy.

I'm pretty sure our community is mostly centered upon the version of Earth that I came from and our respective homeworlds, but there could be wanderers somewhere.

Alright. I could bring some wine, if you drink it.

I'll keep an eye out.

We're kind of all underage, although I'm pretty sure the City doesn't have a legal drinking age. You really don't need to bring anything, but anything you want to bring I'm sure we can find a use for.
