I passed through the town centre at around a quarter to ten and people were beginning to assemble for the ceremony at the War Memorial. I say "people" as if they were Joe and Jill Public but they were mostly a particular kind of person- young people in uniform- cadets, scouts- and the older people who train them. Somewhere a bagpiper was practising

Same here, but a lot of the local ceremonies take place on the nearest Sunday because that's when people are free....

Cos we are too stingy to have it as a national holiday. I used to attend but these past few years I am getting on. Only time my Grandad's medals get aired.

I was at Passchendaele (2017) very big headed as I had 3 up. Turned around and a guy had 3 up plus the V.C.

people should be free everyday, not just sunday ))
freedom is our basic right,
just punning
yes, makes sense for the working peeps
but in canada monday is a national holiday to commemorate
