I believe my grandparents may once have lived in Highgate. If not they lived nearby. My father certainly attended Highgate School; we have the sports trophies to prove it ( Read more... )

I don't know how London functions when the only people who can afford to live there are oligarchs and celebs.

We have some friends in the London area who just sold the wife's mother's house for an absurd amount (close to 2 million) and bought a newer and smaller 2 bedroom flat for the mum and had hardly any cash left over. And they weren't anywhere near Highgate but in a less upper class area...a good neighbourhood but not Highgate.

Yes, it's mad.

I don't see how London prices can carry on going up and up. It's dysfunctional.

I think I heard on the radio the other day that house prices in London have stalled. Considering the rate they are throwing up new luxury apartment blocks, this is not surprising. If you increase the supply -- even if the prices are ridiculous -- prices can't keep on rising.
