nazi musings [no, i don't support that black on red spider]

out of curiosity, i decided to read some of the speeches of one of the last century's most influential persons. Hitler. all politics aside, the man was a brilliant orator and i wanted to see why. as i read, i began to understand some of the draw he had on the people of germany during his time. he spoke passionately, he spoke to connect with them on an emotional level, he spoke in order to focus a populace that was growing shiftless and drifting in a void without strong leadership, he gave his audience a direction for their frustrations. and then, something hit me about all the rhetoric and vitriolic distortions which he spewed. it is very similar in form and appeal to many of the revolutions that ultimately did more harm than good. his fear-mongering about the jews stealing the wealth that was rightly that of the german people, whereby the jews and the capitalists became richer and the workers became enslaved and poorer, sounds remarkably similar to the arguments used in the french revolution of the 1800's, the communist revolution so recently finished when Hitler began to rise to power, the socialist democracy which is even now in the process of bankrupting the once proud french people it has sworn to equalize. they all managed to equalize their people in the end, they have been equalized in poverty and the loss of economic improvement. and the argument that the rich are getting richer off of the efforts of the poor is still an appealing cry. a cry that can and will unite the invariably larger mass of the working class to pull the carpet out from under the feet of the greedy and selfish capitalists who direct the economic development of the county. a cry that has, time and again, led to atrocities being committed in order to maintain the equality of the people. a cry that once again can lead to the slippery slope of hatred and contumacy. a cry that ultimately leads to injustice and the violation of the rights of one in subordination to the desires of the many. a cry that is becoming more familiar in our own backyard.
