music

so yesterday i heard the clash song, rock the casbah, on the radio. it made me happy. then i started to think about how the songs message seems to have changed. it was written as a liberal's frredom of speech backlash to iran banning rock music, now its banned on clearchannel radio stations as possibly being offensive to muslims and intollerent... so i started how many other songs i have are violent, revolutionary tunes or terroristic in their message and here is the list off the top of my head [not including my IRA aongs, like a sniper's promise or the blackwatch]

rock the casbah - the clash
sunday bloody sunday - U2
school's out - alice cooper
bella ciao - chumbawumba
several misfits songs
killing an arab - the cure
detonation blvd - the sisters of mercy

and thats just what came to mind, if i dig more i can find more that are on my computer, but i don't feel like it. instead, i will leave with a quotation from the last song,

Long distance information
I'll take the same
I got the fuel for the transformation
I'm a naked flame
On Detonation Boulevard...
Bang Bang
