James McAvoy and SW and OMIGOD Frank Herbert and Geroge Lucas would so both kill me . . .

Holy freakin' Mother of All. My brain just died. I'm never allowed to watch any more James McAvoy movies EVER. Except maybe when I rewatch Children of Dune for the seventh time. I'm up to six, now (since I can't do all that much else while wearing this damned rigid brace except watch TV). And maybe one more viewing of Atonement and another of ( Read more... )

a long time ago . . ., in a galaxy far far away . . ., i must not fear. fear is the mind-killer

lol. Yup. See, now, that's exactly the problem. Owen, Obi and their dad are ALL Ewan, in my head! Owen's dark haired and Fox is like..older and blonder...but they're all Ewan. The problem is that I had these images (along with David Gallagher as Obi and Padme's son) firmly in my head by the time Aruna changed her mind and decided she wanted to vid this story. So I'm like mentally trying to keep reminding myself that they look like other people and my brain just...won't cooperate.

Dax, yeah. I think she's the perfect choice for his mother and it's driving me bananas that I can't use her. The shapeshifting thing came from Owen's wife, Sennequa. Their daughter (who marries Anakin, eventually) has it, but no one from the Ch'lliear branch of the family. Not all the Ka'andesi have it, and I can't really give it to Obi and Owen's mom without having a way to explain why Obi and Padme's offspring don't EVER show any trace of it. (Luke and Leia with shapeshifting abilities, for example, is just fundamentally screwed up to me. Inalia and Lared are both loaded with other weirdness and giving them SHAPESHIFTING on top of that would really be too much..)

Mine are the other way around, hair-wise, but yeah, I don't think I could actually make either one of them be somebody else at this point. It doesn't matter if I haven't really written much of anything about either one yet - my brain knows who's who already and it's firmly convinced of those facts. *Shrugs a bit helplessly* This is totally going to not help, but the only other person I think my brain might ever accept as a parental figure, visually, who's not someone I already have in mind, would be Sir Alec, and that's more of a just because kind of thing. And you're stuck on his mom, and, well . . . *Frowns* Has Ewan ever been in anything where he had a mother? I'd be tempted to check his movies, to see if anybody struck me as being workable, if I was drawing a complete blank.

*Sighs* Yeah, then people would start wanting to know why the Kenobi kids get all of the extra abilities and making noise about it being unrealistic. And I suppose it might be, done a certain way (though I have a hard time believing you could do it unrealistically, personally). And anyway, I'm sure those kids probably have enough on their plates, without having to worry about figuring out how to control shapeshifting, too . . .

*sighs* Well, when we talked about it, we decided on using Sean Connery for Fox but that was more because of the availability of clips than any other reason. I love Connery to death, but I still don't "SEE" Connery when I think Fox Kenobi.

I think we decided that there isn't a movie with Ewan having a mother, or at least not one that works. *sigh* So, like I said, I think that what I'm going to do is just consider the vids to be an "adaptation" of the story this time around because I'm really struggling with it every time I sit down to work on anything to do with Obi's family, it's irritating, and... yeah.
