So I realize I have been really rather absent as of late. Real life has been a struggle and it's hard to find the energy to write, post, respond, etc with any sort of regularity when all you want to do is sleep and worry about, well, about everything.

Yeah, the company was so just not the right fit for me. They had absolute zero trust in the sales associates and no foundation to coach or train them. They literally were just all about opening shipment and getting the merchandise to the floor for people to buy. I mean, I was the assistant manager and all I did for 9 out of 10 days was process shipment, on the sales floor, for 8 hours. I'm sorry, but as an assistant manager, I should have better things to do. And before you ask, yeah, that's pretty much what the GM does too. *shakes head*
But a week in at Barnes and Noble and I'm already happier. I've got to connect with customers, employees, done some true training. They have things in place to train and coach their employees to better performance, plus cross training so they can work multiple areas of the store. Better processes (although some still feel like I'm back in the Dark Ages for how they go about certain things) but overall much better.
Hope things are well on your end!

It's rough to keep things from the employees. Thankfully/unfortunately CC's closure was well publicized and we learned as the public did that we were without work once the liquidation process was complete.
Congrats on the new employment. I’m certain you will be fabulous!

Having you as a resource to ask questions about your experience closing a store was sooo wonderful! I really, never want to do it again. *sighes*
*smishes again*

Don't tease me.
So sorry to hear about your job troubles. I hate my job, but I'm terrified to quit. So I hear you.
