Computer Blue

I have a “new” secondary computer.

Don’t get all excited. It’s a 333 with a 3.2 gig hard drive, 32 meg of RAM, and Win 98. But, for some reason, it’s exciting to me. It brings back the old “playfulness” of a computer. It gives me something just to MESS with. And I am tempted, right now, to be messing with it. Clearing off all the old users’ stuff, finding different things to put on it…..

But that doesn’t align with my goals right now. I do have to “brag” on how much it cost, though. Nineteen cents and an hour of my time. Kinda can’t beat that for a TOY (which is all it is). See, I got it via someone on my local FreeCycle group (But got lost, and they lived about half an hour away)…because it needed a power cable. Which, ok, Radio Shack has them for $15 or less…but Savers has them for .99. Except that the cashier misread the tag and rang it up for .19.

So, I have a nineteen cent computer. Yes, in THEORY, I could return my good computer, thus throwing away the money I’ve paid on it so far. Then, when I get my slutting check at the end of December, get my OWN computer. But I would get so quickly frustrated with that computer, I think, that even if I choose to buy a cheapo at the end of December, it’s penny-foolish but pound-wise to retain this one…at least for now.
