Still thinking about the ethics of paid posting, but I really do enjoy it. Honestly, I never thought that I could
make money blogging, and yet, now I do. Sure, it isn’t really enough to qualify as a full income stream (unlike some posters, who have multiple blogs and are able to leverage specific categories that I would not be comfortable with as topics). Fact is-I love it. I like being exposed to new sites that I might not have otherwise found. I like getting paid a fair wage for doing what I love (blogging), and I like the way the payouts are structured. The small but steady influx to my PayPal account is just enough to occasionally treat myself to the little things-songs from iTunes, shirts from Full Breach, CDs from Acetate, and jewelry from Hellkats. Things I always “mean” to order, but then never have the “spare” cash for-yet now I do, and in just small enough amounts that I don’t feel bad about treating myself.
Some might think it’s bad to get paid for doing this, but I just don’t see how it can be, as they always pay on time, I don’t choose opportunities that I wouldn’t otherwise be interested in, and I don’t crosspost this to my LiveJournal, and I only take opportunities that ALLOW me to say it’s a paid post. Sure, some of my posts have turned out not to be what an advertiser wanted, but I think it’s giving me a chance to polish my copywriting skills, so I really am benefiting on multiple levels at this point!
