Head Meet Desk

From this link from Congressman Brown:

"As Christmas approaches, I have introduced a resolution that recognizes the importance of Christmas symbols and traditions and also expresses support for the use of these symbols and traditions by those who celebrate this holiday. Furthermore, the resolution expresses disapproval of all attempts to ban or limit references to Christmas. We must not forget that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate of the birth of Christ and I will continue to work to protect the sanctity of this great holiday.”

My first impression: aren't there more important things that need resolutions? Maybe LGBTQ rights? Or ending that war? Or fixing that Economy thing? And a host of others, I'm sure.

Does he not realize that when other people say "Happy Holidays" they are also not saying "Happy Hanukkah" or whatever their greeting of choice is? Does he not seem to realize that Christians Celebrating CHRISTmas is not the default setting for America? Does he not seem to realize that there are many people out there in this great big country of ours who do not believe that Jesus (if he even existed) is a universal truth? Of course, personally, I don't care what people wish me and think it's only mildly ridiculous that people get themselves all twisted into a pretzel over it.

So why am I blogging about this if it's all good and people need to sit back and chill?

Because I can, that's why.

But here's the thing: If people need a resolution to make sure people know that the true reason of the season is sweet baby Jesus maybe they should rethink their religion. Are they really that threatened by people having a different opinion?

Only errors need help from someone with a big club -- the truth can stand on its own.

wtf
