Last week I managed to score some extremely reasonably priced vintage stoles on Evilbay and have been awaiting their arrival with great anticipation. They turned up today and I am muchly chuffed! My favourite, by far, is a two pelt item which I have identified as being a Pale Black Cross mink stole...a pretty unusual mutation to find. It's also in fantastic condition, no shedding, no rubs and only very slight oxidization.
A few others are badly rubbed and one is really shedding [like a moulting cat], so I think I will sell those on.
Another interesting stole, and one which I had trouble identifying, turned out to be chinchilla. It really confused me because at first glance it appeared to be an oddly coloured, extremely silky weasel type stole with a weird tail, but upon closer inspection it turned out to be made from three tiny pelts which had been sewn together to resemble a single long pelt. Sadly, the base of the tail is in rough condition and it feels very delicate. I have never seen chinchilla fur IRL before [very uncommon here], so despite the damage it will be staying.
The rest are a combination of mink and marten.
I will take pictures when the light is a little better, but in the meantime, here is the Black Cross as it was listed. The image barely does it justice!
