Then they say her childhood was ruined? That Beth almost died?
So far only Beth is saying that, so I'm holding my judgement. Even the scene where Coraline 'torments' Beth with a teddy bear can be viewed as Coraline trying to be friendly and maternal and inadvertantly terrorising/traumatizing Beth - more out of misguided affection than anything.
Basically, I need to see where they go with the story.
I personally think there's more to Coraline taking Beth specifically, than meets the eye. Have to wait and see. It's just that Beth poses the question and it's just left hanging there. Why even put the question in the viewer's mind? Until then we were all just assuming that Coraline was cr-a-zy with a capital c!
I think Beth's only threatened now because subconsciously she recognises Morgan as Coraline and is conflating the ideas that the sexual threat she presents that might remove Mick from her (Beth's) life will remove the security Mick has represented to her since childhood - even given that she's only recently recognized that HE was her security blanket.
And considering how jealous Beth was acting about Mick having sex with Coraline the whole episode (from the first scene to the hotel scene to the very end when Coraline was wearing Mick's shirt), I have to assume that stabbing Coraline had a lot to do with possessive jealousy rather than just childhood trauma.
Oh, totally, it's there when they have Beth ask if the sex was good not just once but twice. I just love how some Mick/Beth shippers seem to shelve that technically she's still involved with Josh, and is already on dubious ground there. Whereas Coraline - fiend of the night status aside - is the woman Mick actually chose to marry.
Beth didn't even mention Coraline last week but now that she knows Coraline is the woman that kidnapped her, all of a sudden she knows it's Coraline and she's stalking her?
It's in the intervening episode, the minute she finds Micks pictures of her, the memories she's repressing are starting to come back bit by bit. It's kind of been happening all through the season so far starting with when she was dreaming about it. But in this ep, it's very much triggered by her sexual jealousy of Coraline and the fascination she induces in Mick. If anything Beth's memory comes back because it justifies the actions she wants to take anyway, i.e. remove Coraline permanently.
Mick was a dark character before she even turned him
I'm curious to know what you're basing this on, as I might have overlooked something, but Mick came across as average to me, and then crazy when he wanted but couldn't immediately have Coraline (dude, if she stood you up twice, that's where most guys would get the message - three times and you come back for more?) I think the window breaking was a bit out of character for him which is why he had to get drunk to do it.
Aww, and it's kind of sad that Coraline kept a photo of Mick from the first time they met.
I actually kept wondering who took it: Coraline or Josef? If it was Coraline, then it means she's not just setting herself up as a photographer to get at Mick but because it's a genuine hobby of hers - which just makes me love her more.
I'm not seeing Coraline as any darker than Mick or Josef at this stage. Not at all. So they can all get over calling her satan until I see her do something that's actually 100% rip your throat out evil.
I haven't thought that of her yet either, however, I'm waiting to for them to explain the whole 'staging' of the murder in the fire thing, because that seems rather reprehensible.
