These boots are made for ...

As some may know I joined an LJ group whose goal is to walk 1000 miles in a year about a year ago. Well, I think that a goal like that is best accomplished in California or some other place where the weather is not so volatile. I know that is a cop out but I have been trying to make up for the long, very cold winter months as well as the rainy/work days when I just didn't feel like walking. I am now up to 400 miles. If I were to make my goal I would have to walk about 7 miles/day for the next 89 days. I hate to say it but it is not going to happen. But I think I will be close to my goal. I work the next 5 days but hopefully I can walk when my call ends in the evenings.

Since April 6th I have walked 72 miles. I walked 20 miles over a 3 day period. On, no! Not in a reasonable 6.5 mile/day pace! I walked 11 miles on Sunday and 9.6 miles on Tuesday ( I had to teach a class on Monday). I thought having a day off had given my legs long enough to recover from Sunday. But my joints and muscles were quick to tell me that I had not allowed adequate rest. Did I listen? Hell, no! So I am still a little stiff in my ankles. But I will go on another short jaunt this evening when the temperatures cool down (since when does Kentucky get up in the 80s in April). I am hoping to do something similar when I am off work on Monday and Tuesday. (walked 5.4 miles this evening)

A side benefit of all this walking is that my ankles, butt, and legs are starting to look goooooood. Of course I would rather that the tummy was shrinking more but I think that will come in time. Maybe when my stress levels start leveling off.

Of course I also have to get my garden planted. Hopefully on Monday or Tuesday. Yum, fresh veggies.
