Disclaimer: I have no children of my own, no intention of having children in the near future and no recent experience or training in child care or psychology. I have a lingering fear of dinosaurs after a viewing of Jurassic Park early in my life and for that reason do not endorse actually allowing young children view material with an adult rating recommendation such as Supernatural. Just give them enough classic horror to keep them in line.

Reason 1. Supernatural is pretty. Children like to looks at colours. There are four current season of Supernatural. They will be looking at colours for a long time. Delicious, delectable colours. Go get a pedicure.
Reason 3. Supernatural encourages children to engage with literature on a wide variety of topics.
No Dean, the Bible does not have a blurb.
Reason 4. Supernatural is educational. It is a good introduction to discussions of sex-ed and anatomically enlightening.
Reason 5. Supernatural often depicts those women conforming to Western society’s stereotype of beauty finding no fulfilment or happiness reinforcing that appearance wont save you from the YED isn’t everything. Also white nightgowns are a poor choice of sleepwear.
Reason 6. Supernatural also defies the social expectations of masculine behaviour in terms of repressing emotion.
Reason 7. Supernatural will encourage you child to be hardcore confident.

Reason 8. Supernatural emphasises the importance of family and depicts a stable family life and environment [sic].
Reason 9. Supernatural and the associated misfortune it reaps upon the Winchester’s has the ability to humble even the bitchiest most spoilt child.
Reason 10. Supernatural is not void of young characters children can relate to. In fact, overall an important life message is portrayed: consult your parents before pursuing the occult.
I'm sure that last girl was the upstanding-citizen-girl-scout-weekend-volunteer-at-the-local-pound type before she was you know, possesed and such.
Reason 11. Supernatural contains many side characters who represent awesome in its purest form and hence, provide positive role models.
Why yes, Bobby's dog is a valid character and am I the only one who loved that waiter at the start of 'Wishful Thinking'?
Reason 12. Supernatural offers methods of logical and healthy problem solving to the associated difficulties and mental stress of being alive or being alive then dead then alive again or some alternate combination of the two which is also very…useful…to know….
