An unexpected response

I got a response from Congressman Jay Inslee to the email I sent whose text appears in my LJ post of February 27. It moved me to tears - something vanishingly rare. So I had to share. Here it is:
March 6, 2012

The response:

Dear Ms. Dragwyla:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the funding of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the FY2012 Budget. I appreciate hearing from you.

Like you, I am concerned about the seemingly endless attacks on the NASA budget. I have been a supporter of NASA and in fact have voted several times to prevent further cuts to NASA's funding. Additionally, I feel that the investment we make in our space program will expand the realm of human knowledge and will provide, as it has in the past, exciting product breakthroughs for terrestrial use. I sincerely hope that in the future, Congress can refrain from politicizing NASA's budget process and realize that investment in the space program is indeed an investment in our future. As the budget process for NASA and other programs moves forward, I will keep your thoughts in mind.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me about such an important issue.
