The World Resources Institute has raised a point, but it has not offered a solution to the problem. That is because there is no solution.
Oh, yes, there is -- using nuclear power plants powered by thorium (which isn't as, ah, difficult as uranium to work with) to distill sea water, flood water, and other, normally unsafe hydrological resources. So why is nobody talking about it? We either do that or everybody dies of thirst. So which is it: bite the bullet and go nuclear, or cling to righteousness and die of long-term dehydration?
