Except of course, "Dancing at the Jefferson Memorial" is a bit of linguistic legerdemain to disguise what was really going on.

Looks like they had a whole lot of people in an organized event. One normally needs a permit from the Park Service for something like that, otherwise they break it up.

Clearly it was a publicity stunt, probably aimed at getting the exact headline it got.

Oh. Code Pink. That explains a lot. Yes, I can see why the cops busted it up. That wasn't spontaneous dancing, it was a well-organized mob.
