Lately my computer has developed an odd syndrome: When I go to power it off, it goes all the way to just before actually turning off, but then it sits there, the little green "I'm working, dammit!" light above the power-on/off indicator, which is also the power button, occasionally flickering, and doesn't turn off until I hold down the power button for five seconds, which does turn it off. Why is it doing that? Is there something I can do to get it to turn off properly, such as going into the registry or configsys or something?
I just spent $200 I couldn't afford getting a tune-up for my computer; they didn't find anything bad in the process. So it probably isn't mechanical. At least that's what I'm hoping. Please. Please. Pretty please with a gajillion computer chips on top? I just can't afford to have them look at it again for quite a while -- it's a refurbished model that only cost me $290 from Overstock.com a couple of years ago, and I'd be better off buying a new one from them. So if anyone out there has any ideas about what's causing this and what can be done about it without doing a complete, expensive overhaul, please let me know.
Thank you.
