In Japan's hour of need, please give all you can to dependable charitable agencies. One that consistently performs well in that respect, and is already helping out in Japan, is
AmeriCares Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Aid Organization. Another, which provides help to children in need all over the world without respect to their country of origin is
Emergency - Children's Fund - Save the Children -- I don't know if they are helping Japan now, but you can check that on their site.
On the other hand, do not give to any organization billing itself as a charity which has even the most remote connection to Scientology. Such organizations not only don't help in any dependable, realistic way, but they also get in the way of everyone who really is trying to help, and crawl all over the injured and needy while ripping off everything that isn't nailed down and causing tremendous confusion, to boot. For more on that, see, e.g.,
XENU TV, especially on the Church of Scientology's behavior in Haiti right after the Haitian earthquake (use
XENU TV's on-site search engine to find articles on that).
And if anyone out there knows of other charities that will really help in Japan, please let me know in the comments, and I'll post that information here. Please give the URLs of their websites if they have them. Thanks.
Nota bene:
Major annoyance As I told her, if she doesn't want her charity dollars to go to a charity that is funding hospitals and clinics, for fear they do abortions (or anything else), then forget giving to charity to aid Japan in her hour of need, because medical care of all kinds is urgently needed in Japan now, and that care can really only be best provided by personnel from clinics and hospitals, because only clinics and hospitals and related public health agencies are equipped to do the job properly.
