SEATAC, Washington -- Has a cafe near Sea-Tac airport banned TSA agents? That's the question some are asking after a consumer blogger posted excerpts of e-mails from a woman who said she works at the cafe.
Christopher Elliott, a consumer blogger and columnist for National Geographic, posted the excerpts, from a woman named KC McLawson, last week.
"My boss flies quite a bit and he has an amazing ability to remember faces. If he sees a TSA agent come in we turn our backs and completely ignore them, and tell them to leave," McLawson told Elliott. "Their kind aren’t welcomed in our establishment."
Elliott updated his post Tuesday and explained that McLawson told him that she worked in a cafe near a major airport. Elliott said McLawson's IP address suggested she was located near Seattle.
The name and location of the cafe aren't clear, nor is McLawson's location. It's possible that McLawson works at another airport near Seattle, or that her IP address was routed through a proxy (though doing so requires some amount of technical know-how).
KIRO 7 checked at several restaurants and cafes near Sea-Tac recently and didn't find any evidence that TSA agents were being refused service. We're working on getting more information.
