Today a friend sent me a list of his favorite Edgar Cayce prophecies. That list, and my response to it, are given below. Have fun:

Although this isn't the complete list of prophecies, it's my choice and picks of the most interesting of his prophecies.

▪ Iltar the Atlantean leader of the Maya built the first temple, it will rise above the sea again.
▪ A Temple in the Yucatan is "overshadowing" the location of the Atlantean records. These records contain the history and sciences of the Atlanteans.
▪ The slaves of the Atlanteans were called "things".
▪ Egypt the center of the Universal activities of nature, as well as the spiritual forces.
▪ Mathematical, the astrological and the numerological indications
▪ A "community home" was at Ararat before Noah "who again joined with many in peopling the earth this was caused on Og.
▪ The records of Atlantis will be open to those that are the initiates in the knowledge of the One God.
▪ The rising of the Temple will make the records accessible.
▪ The secret record chamber lies, as the sun rises from the waters, the line of the shadow or light falls between the paws of the Sphinx that was later set as a sentinel or guard. And which may not be entered from the connecting chambers from the Sphinx's right paw until the time has been fulfilled when the changes must be active in this sphere of man's experience.
▪ The Sphinx, and the treasure or storehouse facing same, between this and the Nile, in which those records were kept.
▪ It is thought that people are still going there for initiation as well as to interpret the religious changes man will undergo.
▪ The Nile was called Nole when it dumped into the Atlantic, "on the Congo end."

I gave up on Cayce over his talk about Atlantis, years ago. The reason I did is that Isaac Asimov, the science-fiction writer and scientist, pointed out that while he had no idea whether Atlantis ever existed or not, he knew a way to find out if anyone wanted to put in the effort and expense and time to do so. As he said, corals, like trees, show annual growth rings in cross-section. And, like trees, the rings record conditions during the year each one was formed. Thin rings mean lean times, not enough food, or just enough but no more; wide rings mean times of plenty; and distorted rings are the result of significant disturbances in the environment of the corals. Really big distortions in the rings mean catastrophic environmental disturbances. So he suggested that those who want to know if Atlantis was real sample corals all over the Atlantic ocean -- Atlantis was supposed to have been in the Atlantic -- and see if, going back far enough, their rings are grossly distorted everywhere in the Atlantic Basin. If you could see that in all ancient corals all around the Atlantic Basin, it would mean that back then, an enormous event occurred that resonated through the Atlantic Ocean -- like, say, the collapse of Atlantis.
Well, nobody ever took him up on it. Scientists didn't because each scientist has his or her own area of expertise, and has to devote his/her working hours to that. Laypersons didn't -- though why is anyone's guess. But you'd have expected anyone who was serious about their belief in Atlantis to want to prove, once and for all, that it did exist, and did succumb to a giant catastrophe back when to sample corals around the Atlantic Basin and look for signs of that catastrophe in the form of distorted rings. Wouldn't you? Well, apparently, none of them did. Either they didn't know how, or didn't have the wherewithal in terms of equipment and financing (something I doubt, because many of those groups have plenty of money), or they didn't want their pet theory overturned by finding out the awful truth that Atlantis didn't exist.
Which soured me on Cayce. More: quite a few of his prophecies never came true, and others couldn't come true, such as the idea that the West Coast will fall into the Pacific Ocean -- you can't fall off the floor, and the tectonic "raft" that much of our West Coast rides on (the Pacific Plate) is, like all other tectonic rafts, including the continental ones, riding on a global sea of magma that is much denser than that "raft" is. The rock that holds up the continents and islands is much lighter than the molten rock on which it rides, and it can no more "fall off" the mantle than a piece of balsa wood floating in water can "fall off" the water into the water -- it's already there.
Then there's the pole-shift business, which, to be kind, probably came from a simple misunderstanding of what geologists and geographers mean by the way that Earth's north and south magnetic poles wander around. For example, Earth's north magnetic pole is now moving toward Russia at 40 miles a year, and who knows what direction it will take in the future? But the magnetic poles are not Earth's poles of rotation, which never change. Why? Because of the Moon, and her tidal effects on the Earth. If the Moon didn't exist, the Earth's axis of rotation would have nothing to keep it from flopping about all the time, something that would have had a profound effect on Earth's life, the evolution of which would have taken extremely strange directions as life worked its ass off to keep up with the tremendous, radical shifts in environmental conditions that caused (there's a video on Youtube I think I can find again showing that). What the Moon does is generate tides on Earth -- not merely ocean tides (though those aren't insignificant; water is very dense, and that enormous megatonnage of water that constitutes our oceans has a lot of drag!), but also tides in the very rock of which our planet is made. And rock -- the solid rock of the crust, the molten rock of the mantle and outer core, and the solid core as well -- has tremendous momentum once it's set spinning. When the drag on it added by the Moon is taken into consideration, it's clear that between the rotating Earth and the Moon, the stuff of which our world is made has so great a resistance to a change in acceleration (in this case, to change in the direction of its rotation) that it simply cannot change the orientation of its axis of rotation.
The Moon has been with us for around 4 billion years, and in that time, any changes in the orientation of the Earth's poles of rotation must have been so insignificant that they might as well not have occurred at all. So Cayce's "pole-shift" prophecies can't come true unless the Moon suddenly ceases to exist -- in which case, the sudden end to tidal braking would caused the Earth's crust to peel away like the rind of an orange, and that would be the end of life on Earth, right then and there.
Maybe Cayce got a few things right, but others he didn't -- and others, like the "falling off into the Pacific" of our West Coast, and the matter of "pole-shifts," can't happen.
But Cayce's in good company with that. Even Nostradamus, the great grand-daddy of all such prognosticators, screwed up big-time occasionally, such as his prophecy that the world would come to an end in 1999. Hey, you win some, you lose some . . . ;-)

When the drag on it added by the Moon is taken into consideration, it's clear that between the rotating Earth and the Moon, the stuff of which our world is made has so great a resistance to a change in acceleration (in this case, to change in the direction of its rotation) that it simply cannot change the orientation of its axis of rotation.
The Moon has been with us for around 4 billion years, and in that time, any changes in the orientation of the Earth's poles of rotation must have been so insignificant that they might as well not have occurred at all. So Cayce's "pole-shift" prophecies can't come true unless the Moon suddenly ceases to exist -- in which case, the sudden end to tidal braking would caused the Earth's crust to peel away like the rind of an orange, and that would be the end of life on Earth, right then and there.
Maybe Cayce got a few things right, but others he didn't -- and others, like the "falling off into the Pacific" of our West Coast, and the matter of "pole-shifts," can't happen.
But Cayce's in good company with that. Even Nostradamus, the great grand-daddy of all such prognosticators, screwed up big-time occasionally, such as his prophecy that the world would come to an end in 1999. Hey, you win some, you lose some . . . ;-)
